History, Circulation and Content:

Copies of Discovering Stone magazine will be mailed to every sector of the Australian stone industry during 2008, plus thousands of architects, interior designers, major builders and design/construct professionals.

The number of subscribers to Discovering Stone continues to increase steadily and many recipients have purchased 3 and 5 year subscriptions.

Discovering Stone is also mailed to more than 1,000 tile retailers who sell natural stone products.

Discovering Stone attempts to chart the development of the stone industry in Australia by focusing on local materials that are quarried and utilised at home and abroad. We regularly examine problems that arise in relation to installation and maintenance. In addition every attempt is made to provide information on new technologies and products.

Discovering Stone is the official publication for the Australian Stone Advisory Association (ASAA), a bona fide 'not for profit' organisation which is involved in promoting Australian stone at local and international trade expos. During 2007 ASAA initiated the process of developing a Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) eco-labelling standard for hard flooring. Many of Australia’s leading architects refer to Discovering Stone and ASAA for technical information regarding installation of stone.

During 2008 bonus copies of Discovering Stone will be circulated at trade shows in China Expo Build, the United States (Coverings) and Italy (Marmomacc).

In addition 1,500 bonus copies of Discovering Stone will be circulated at the Full Frontal Tile & Stone Expo (FFTSE), which will be held at the Dome, Sydney Showground, 17th-19th April 2008.

Entries in the Australian Stone Architectural Awards will appear in the March edition of Discovering Stone. A concept board featuring each entry will be displayed at FFTSE on the Mezzanine floor of the Dome.

Members of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects will adjudicate entries in each category and the winning architects will receive their awards at an awards dinner held in the Southee Complex, adjacent to the Dome on the evening of Friday, 19th April 2008.

Full Frontal Tile and Stone Exposition

Discovering Stone is the official journal for Australia's first dedicated tile and stone expo, which will be held at the Sydney Showgrounds in April 17-19 2008.
